Stand out features
– The warranty is the best we’ve ever seen
If you aren’t familiar with Vortex products, you may not know but they have possibly the best warranty I have ever heard of they call their VIP (Very Important Promise) warranty. Many people whoa re familiar with Vortex know this is a huge reason people buy from them.
In essence, this warranty means that you can buy any of their products and not have to worry about needing another one ever again. As long as you have the product, you can send it back and expect it either repaired or replaced. No questions asked. As they call it their “unconditional” promise, it doesn’t matter who did it or what happened to it. Personally, I don’t know of a lot of companies with this customer service quality level.
– Most popular and widely loved rangefinder
Another thing that is great about this rangefinder is that it is extremely popular. Tons of users means tons of feed back. And as you can see on Amazon, this product has a ridiculous rating for how many reviews it has! That is a huge plus in my book, because you know they have a consistently good product.
– Very clear display
Something else we noticed is the display is very clear. It just has a very high contract lens and it makes it great for low light as well as very bright situations. Here is what it looks like through the lens.

Things to think twice about before buying this
There really aren’t a ton of cons about the Vortex but here are a few things that are worth mentioning. The issues we found basically just relate to when ranging into the 800-900 yard range or so. So if you plan on taking the long shot all the time, you may want to invest in something a little more built for that. Here were the main cons:
– Slower than other range finders in its price range
– Does not range quite as far as it’s competitors
– Can get shaky
What’s the verdict?
Again, if you are into the long range game like 1000 plus yard shots, this might not be the one for you and you may want to take a look at some other great options.
If you are looking for a one and done rangefinder that has all the capability for archery and rifle hunting, this is your rangefinder. Combined with Vortex’s amazing warranty and the countless reviews online, it’s hard to go wrong with the Ranger 1800. You really won’t have to buy another rangefinder ever again!
